How to Install an LED Neon Sign on the Wall Depending on the Type of Mounting

Your Space Neon order has arrived, and you’re unsure how to install a Flex neon sign on the wall. Or perhaps you haven’t done it yet because you’re uncertain which method to choose. As you know, we offer various mounting options, which you could select when customizing your design. Nevertheless, many of you still have questions about how to position a LED Flex neon sign on the wall, ceiling, or a flat surface, without fixing it permanently, making it easier to move from one place to another. This guide aims to shed some light on the matter.

These are the four types of LED neon mounting options we offer

If you haven’t placed your order yet and want to know what types of mounting we offer, they are summarized in four:

1. No mounting: neon with pre-drilled holes, allowing you to choose how to install it in your space.
2. With screws: we provide you with four decorative screws to install your neon sign on an interior wall.
3. To Hang: We provide you with steel cable hangers to secure your neon sign to the ceiling.
4. Acrylic Base: We craft acrylic “legs” to ensure the neon sign stands independently, allowing you to place it on a flat surface such as a table, shelf, or even the floor.

Which mounting method should you choose?

What are the decorative screws like, what are the hangers like, what are the acrylic legs like… We receive many questions daily about the mounting method. The answer varies depending on the option you selected during the purchase process. However, if you haven’t placed your order yet, we’ve put together a brief guide with more details on each method.

Without attachment

It is the simplest option and consists only of holes that we will make according to the size of your neon sign, ensuring that the installation is very easy and your sign is securely mounted, with the option you choose. By default, we will always send it to you with the holes made.

It is the option that Space Neon recommends for neon signs placed outdoors, as the wall thickness can vary, and also for portable neon signs used in different spaces, such as events, talks, meetings, or even wedding neon signs, since you can hang them temporarily with hooks, wire, cable ties…

With decorative wall screws

It is the type of mounting we recommend for surfaces with a moderate thickness, such as drywall, coated walls, or acoustic insulation panels. The installation process is as simple as screwing the screws into a wall or surface, drilling the necessary holes to align with those on the neon, which we have pre-drilled ourselves.

However, it’s not ideal for facades, as the wall might be thicker than an interior wall and may not be compatible with the size of the screws we provide, which are based on a standard measurement. In these cases, we recommend sending the neon sign without mounting, with just holes, so that you can choose how to install it yourselves.

Ceiling Hangers

This mounting method requires a bit more skill than the previous ones, but it’s not much different from installing a traditional ceiling lamp. It’s a recommended option for music studios, neon signs for bars and restaurants, shops, and even for the living room or a children’s room in the house. To give you an idea, here’s what we include in the package:

Considering the design of this fixture, the installation method is quite straightforward and can be summarized in seven steps:

• The piece with the round base and three screw holes should be fixed to the ceiling.
• Use the appropriate screws and anchors for the type of ceiling (wood, concrete, etc.) to ensure it is securely fastened.
• Ensure the steel cable is properly inserted into the piece that attaches to the ceiling.
• Adjust the cable length according to the height at which you wish to hang the LED Flex neon sign.
• The other part of the hanger features a closure mechanism that opens and closes with a screw. Open this piece to attach it to the neon.
• Once positioned, close the mechanism ensuring the neon is securely fastened.
• Ensure all connections are secure and that the neon sign does not have excessive movement.

Please note that screws for ceiling mounting are not included, but it’s very easy to find screws that fit your ceiling structure at any DIY store.

Acrylic base

We manufacture transparent acrylic stands so that the neon sign can support itself and be easily portable. This option requires nothing more than assembling the acrylic pieces we send you in a cross shape and placing the neon sign on one of the grooves. It looks exactly like this:
